Make a list of the features that meet your family's needs. List your family requirements separating the "must" list and the "wish" list.
 
Consider which neighborhoods are appealing to you.
 
Check proximity to schools, work, church, shopping and recreation.
         
    Determine who provides fire protection, law enforcement, utilities and garbage collection.  
 
Look over and understand any ordinances and/or covenants.
 
Check condition of home. Review Seller's Property Disclosure. Determine if you want a professional property inspection.
 
Verify what the taxes are and if they are likely to have a costly adjustment.
 
Read your "Real Estate Consumer Guide".
 
When you and the seller have reached a written agreement you are ready to make your loan application.
 
Make a copy of the accepted Purchase Agreement along with a completed loan.
Stay in communication with your realtor and lender.
